Driving to the Tyrol Lodge – Approaching from the SOUTH

As you approach Whistler, heading north on Highway 99
  1. From the first set of lights at Function Junction, drive north approximately 2.5km and look for Alta Lake Road on the left – turn left at the traffic lights here.
  2. From the Highway, follow Alta Lake Road 2.5km (across the train tracks and up the long hill), and look for the Tyrol Lodge sign on the right hand side.
  3. In WINTER, vehicle access is limited to the upper parking lot ONLY. You may walk down the hill to Tyrol Lodge, and use the toboggans provided for your gear. The distance is 700 ft (215 metres) with an elevation difference of 75 ft (25 metres).
  4. In SUMMER, you can drive down the hill on the dirt road, turn right at the first corner onto the “Private Road,” stay left on the hairpin corner (follow the ‘Tyrol Lodge’ sign). 4-wheel drive is highly recommended, but not essential.

Driving to the Tyrol Lodge – Approaching from the NORTH

As you leave Whistler village, heading south on Highway 99
  1. From the lights at the Creekside Husky gas station, drive south approximately 1km (you will go through the lights at Bayshores) and look for Alta Lake Road on the right – turn right at the traffic lights here.
  2. From the Highway, follow Alta Lake Road 2.5km (across the train tracks and up the long hill), and look for the Tyrol Lodge sign on the right hand side.
  3. In WINTER, vehicle access is limited to the upper parking lot ONLY. You may walk down the hill to the lodge, and use the sleds provided for your gear.
  4. In SUMMER, you can drive down the hill on the dirt road, turn right at the first corner onto the “Private Road,” stay left on the hairpin corner (follow the ‘Tyrol Lodge’ sign). 4-wheel drive is highly recommended, but not essential.

If you are coming to the Tyrol Lodge via Taxi

A taxi from the Tourist Office in Whistler Village to the Tyrol Lodge one-way will cost approximately $20 including the tip.
